Xinomavro means ‘acid-black’, and it lives up to its name with high acidity and firm tannins. Grown mainly in northern Greece, it gives pale-to-medium coloured reds with red fruit and savoury notes of tomato, olive and dried herbs. The best Naoussa wines age for decades, gaining leather and spice.
