Müller-Thurgau

/ MEW-ler TOOR-gow / · Also known as Rivaner, Riesling-Sylvaner

Light, soft and gently aromatic — peach and white flowers.

Müller-Thurgau was bred in 1882 by Swiss scientist Hermann Müller at Geisenheim. Long thought to be Riesling × Silvaner, DNA later showed it's Riesling crossed with Madeleine Royale. It ripens early and reliably, and was once Germany's most planted grape. Today the most exciting versions are crisp, aromatic whites from Alto Adige and Franken.
