Red grape 🇭🇷 Dalmatia, Croatia

Zinfandel

/ ZIN-fan-del / · Also known as Primitivo, Tribidrag, Crljenak Kaštelanski

Jammy, spicy and generous — California's heritage grape, Puglia's Primitivo.

DNA testing revealed that California's Zinfandel and Puglia's Primitivo are the same grape, originally from Croatia. It ripens unevenly and reaches high sugar levels, giving bold, jammy, spicy reds with high alcohol. Ancient vines in Lodi and Sonoma make its most concentrated wines.
