White grape 🇮🇹 Veneto, Italy

Garganega

/ gar-GAH-neh-ga / · Also known as Grecanico

The grape behind Soave — elegant, gently nutty and fresh.

Garganega is the main grape of Soave, just east of Verona. On the volcanic hillsides of Soave Classico it makes refined whites with pear, citrus and almond notes and a subtle mineral finish. Dried grapes give sweet Recioto di Soave, and in Sicily the same grape is called Grecanico.
